Are the nurses real, registered nurses?
Yes. Every visit is done by a registered nurse, and you know your nurse's name before they arrive.
Does it hurt?
A quick pinch, and it is over. A little bruising can happen, and you can stop the visit whenever you like.
I am busy. How much time does this take?
About fifteen minutes, at home or at the office, on a weekday morning, with early slots on request. If something comes up, give us 24 hours' notice and we move it.
How fast are results?
Usually within a few days of your visit.
Do I need to fast?
Yes, for 10 to 12 hours before your visit, so your blood sugar and lipid results are accurate. Water and black coffee are fine. Breakfast can start the moment the nurse leaves.
Is this a medical diagnosis?
No. Signal is a wellness service. Anything that needs clinical follow-up is flagged to you directly, with a referral where appropriate.
Will my medical aid pay for it?
Probably not. Medical schemes hardly ever pay for routine blood tests, so please plan on paying for it yourself.
Can I cancel?
Membership is a 12-month plan. You can leave early with 20 business days' notice, and a fair cancellation fee applies, set out plainly in our membership terms.
Who sees my results?
You, the registered partner laboratory, and the doctor who reviews them. Nobody else, unless you ask us to share your report with your GP.
Which areas do you cover?
Greater Cape Town: the Atlantic Seaboard, City Bowl, Southern Suburbs, Northern Suburbs, Blouberg and the West Coast, Somerset West and the Winelands. Our nurses drive to you. If you are further out, ask our concierge and we will tell you honestly whether we can reach you.
